Viewing The Shutter Count of Your Canon Camera on a Mac

Checking the current actuations/shutter count of a camera is extremely useful, especially if you are trying to sell your camera or if you have bought one. Any of the following methods are super easy and fairly quick.

Method 1

Upload a jpeg to https://www.camerashuttercount.com. This website scans the uploaded image and reads the EXIF data of the file which should contain the shutter count.

Method 2

Alternatively, if the method 1 does not work, you may download and install FreeShutterCounter. If needed, set your camera’s communication settings to PTP, connect the camera to your mac using a USB cable, then press on the “Get Shutter Count” button. This should also give the current shutter actuations of your camera.
